Forty-six years ago today, on the 6th of Jaddi month in the year 1358 (Solar Hijri), the former Soviet Union violated the sacred territory of Afghanistan and launched an invasion, deploying tens of thousands of occupying troops onto our land.
As a result of ten years of occupation and extremely grave atrocities, our country, Afghanistan, suffered damage from every direction. Millions of Afghans were forced into migration, martyred, or left disabled. However, all praise be to Allah, our brave and Muslim people rose with courage and waged jihad against the occupation. As a result, after ten years, the Soviet Red Army suffered a crushing defeat in Afghanistan, with the help and victory granted by Allah, the Exalted, and our oppressed people were liberated from oppression and occupation.
This great historical event conveys an important message: no arrogant power in the world should ever doubt the faith, honor, and firm resolve of the brave and Muslim people of Afghanistan.
It also proves that no matter how oppressed or deprived our people may become, they possess a clear and honorable history of fulfilling the command of their Lord (jihad) and liberating and conquering their homeland from occupation. Within a single century, the liberation of Afghanistan from the occupation of three major powers and their humiliating defeats clearly testify to this undeniable truth.
While once again strongly condemning the invasion of Afghanistan by the former Soviet Union, the Islamic Emirate calls upon the people to always remain prepared to protect the freedom and independence of their land and to never allow anyone to carry out malicious conspiracies or ill intentions against our Islamic system, creed, homeland, values, and people.
The Islamic Emirate will continue, day and night, its efforts and service to defend and safeguard its religious values, Islamic system, homeland, and Muslim people, God willing.
