Pakistani media have reported that, by decision of the Pakistani army, residents of the Tirah region have been undergoing evacuation for the past several days. This decision has raised concerns both domestically and internationally.
Experts say that Pakistan intends to resettle members of ISIS–Khorasan Province in this area, provide them with training centers, and facilitate the transfer of armed militants into Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, videos circulated on social media show people loading their belongings amid snow and extreme cold, being forced to abandon their homes.
At the same time, officials in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have demanded clarification from the government regarding the forced evacuation of residents under the pretext of military operations in the area. However, the Pakistani army and government have so far remained silent and have not issued any explanation.
Some other analysts have stated that Pakistan aims to evacuate the region for mining purposes, so that, under contracts signed with foreign countries, the area can be cleared of its local population.
It is believed that the Pakistani military regime has long been attempting to create difficulties for people living along the so-called Durand Line and, by exploiting various pretexts, to pave the way for proxy projects.
