Russian President Vladimir Putin says that while every country in the world has its own problems, “the Taliban clearly controls the situation in Afghanistan” and are fighting terrorism and drug trafficking. Putin made these remarks during an interview with India Today, in response to a question about human rights in Afghanistan. He said, “In order to influence events happening in the country, you must stay in contact with the current leadership.” He also added, “Contacts are better than no contacts.”
